How Best Life dental plans usually cover care
Best Life — BEST Life and Health Insurance Company — offers group dental plans to employers, including PPO plans and indemnity plans. These are often chosen by smaller employers, so you may not hear the name as often as larger carriers. Your benefits depend on the plan design your employer picked, including the deductible and yearly maximum.
Most dental PPO plans, from any carrier, share the same basic structure. The details below are typical, not a promise of what your plan pays — your employer or plan sets the exact rules, so check your plan.
| Type of care | Typical examples | How many PPO plans treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Preventive | Exams, cleanings, routine X-rays, fluoride, sealants | Often covered at the highest level, frequently without a deductible |
| Basic | Fillings, simple extractions, some gum treatment | Often covered at a middle level after the deductible |
| Major | Crowns, bridges, dentures, some root canals and implants | Often covered at a lower level, and may have a waiting period |
PPO or indemnity: which do you have?
With a PPO plan, the carrier has agreed fees with network dentists, which usually lowers your share. With an indemnity plan, there is no network: the plan pays a share of a set allowance for each service, and you pay the rest. Your card or benefits booklet usually says which type you have. We’re in network with Best Life PPO plans; if your plan is indemnity, call us and we’ll explain what to expect.
Typical PPO rules: preventive care paid at the highest level, a deductible for basic and major care, an annual maximum, frequency limits on cleanings and X-rays, and on some plans waiting periods. Check your plan for the exact details.
What we can do for Best Life members
Best Life members can get routine and restorative care for the whole family here:
- Checkups and cleanings for the whole family, from age 1 through senior dentistry
- Kids’ care in our office: fluoride, sealants, and treatment of cavities with tooth-colored fillings and extractions
- Repairing and replacing teeth: root canals, crowns, bridges and dentures
- Same-day emergency visits during office hours — call first
- Saturday appointments, 9am–3pm
Estimating your cost
With a Best Life PPO plan, your cost depends on the plan design your employer chose, your deductible, the coverage level for each type of care and your remaining annual maximum.
Before treatment, you get a written estimate of what your plan is expected to pay and your share. Your plan makes the final decision when the claim is processed.
Without insurance, new patient visits are $49, $99 or $179. Root canals start at $899, crowns at $1,199, 3-unit bridges at $3,499 and dentures at $1,399 (per arch for full dentures). See dental prices. If Best Life pays part and you owe the rest, you can spread the balance with Cherry, Sunbit or CareCredit (see financing options), or use an FSA or HSA card for dental treatment.
