Where can I get a root canal in Richmond, TX?
Richmond Dental Care is at 8019 W Grand Pkwy S, Suite 1055, Richmond, TX 77407. We treat patients from Richmond as well as nearby Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Fulshear and the neighborhoods listed on our areas we serve page.
Many general dentists send molar root canals to a specialist. Our dentists, Dr. Harsh Patel and Dr. Arpitkumar Patel, handle most root canal therapy in Richmond right here, including back teeth. That usually means one team, one office and one set of X-rays from the first visit to the final crown. If your X-rays show a case that is better suited to a specialist, we’ll tell you up front.
How soon can I be seen for tooth pain?
We offer same-day emergency visits during office hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, 9am–3pm. Saturday hours help if you can’t leave work during the week. See our Saturday dentist in Richmond page for details.
At the first visit we examine the tooth, take X-rays and work on getting you out of pain. Depending on the tooth and the schedule, the root canal may start that day or be booked soon after. We don’t have an after-hours line, so if pain starts when we’re closed, call when we open. For swelling that is spreading into your face or neck, go to the ER.
Signs you may need a root canal
- A toothache that lingers or wakes you up at night
- Sensitivity to hot or cold that stays after the food or drink is gone
- Pain when you bite or chew
- A pimple-like bump or swelling on the gum near a tooth
- A tooth that has turned darker than the teeth around it
- A deep cavity, large old filling or crack that has started to hurt
These signs don’t always mean a root canal, but they do mean the tooth should be checked. For a closer look at why treatment brings relief, read root canal treatment is about relief, not pain.
How much does a root canal cost in Richmond, TX?

What happens during a root canal at our office?
- We examine the tooth and take X-rays to see the infection and the shape of the roots.
- The tooth is numbed with local anesthetic. We don’t use sedation, and most patients feel pressure rather than pain.
- We clean out the infected pulp, shape the canals and disinfect them.
- The canals are filled and sealed, and a temporary filling closes the tooth.
- Most back teeth then get a crown to protect them from cracking.
Most root canals take one or two visits. See how long a root canal takes for a fuller breakdown.
Root canal or extraction?
If the tooth has enough healthy structure, saving it with a root canal and a crown usually keeps your bite stronger and avoids the cost of replacing a missing tooth later. If it is cracked below the gum or too damaged, a tooth extraction may be the safer choice. We’ll show you the X-rays and go over both options before you decide.
After your root canal
Mild soreness for a few days is normal and usually eases with over-the-counter pain relievers. Avoid chewing hard foods on the tooth until the permanent crown is placed. Our root canal aftercare instructions and recovery tips cover the details.
